ElevenLabs pricing and limits explained
ElevenLabs sells plans from Free to Business, plus custom Enterprise, and they all draw from one shared monthly credit pool. Below you'll find every plan side by side, who each one suits, the limits that catch people out, and how the API is billed.

Which plan for whom
- Hobbyist. Free gives 10,000 credits a month (~10 minutes of Text to Speech), but it has no commercial license and anything you publish must credit ElevenLabs. Starter at $6 a month is the cheapest plan with a commercial license.
- Creator or YouTuber. Starter ($6) or Creator ($22). Creator adds 1 Professional Voice Clone and ~121 minutes (121,000 credits). Both include a commercial license.
- API developer. Buy Pay As You Go top-ups (minimum $5) or pick a plan. The API is billed in US dollars per 1,000 characters, not credits, and concurrency rises with the plan: 2 on Free up to 25 on Business. Pro, Scale, Business include 44.1kHz PCM output.
- Team. Scale ($299) includes 3 seats and Business ($990) includes 10 seats. Enterprise has custom pricing, credits and seats.
Limits and gotchas
- All products draw from one shared monthly credit pool. ElevenLabs pricing page
- In the app, Text to Speech uses about 1 credit per character (V2 Multilingual models: 1 character = 1 credit). ElevenLabs pricing page
- Approximate credit costs: Speech to Text 330 credits per minute, Eleven Music 900 credits per minute, Sound Effects 200 credits per generation, Voice Changer and Voice Isolator 1,000 credits per minute. ElevenLabs pricing page
- Unused credits roll over for up to two months (balance capped at 3× the monthly quota) while a paid plan stays active. No rollover on Free. Downgrading or cancelling forfeits unused credits at the end of the cycle. ElevenLabs pricing page
- There is a maximum number of credits per generation request, which depends on Free vs paid. ElevenLabs doesn't state the number. ElevenLabs pricing page
- New self-serve plans (including Free) don't have automatic overage. When monthly credits run out you can buy Pay As You Go top-ups (minimum $5), used after your plan credits and valid for 12 months. Auto Top Up is optional. Pay As You Go docs
- Without two-factor authentication, Pay As You Go purchases are capped per calendar month: $100 on Free, Starter and Creator, $200 on Pro, $600 on Scale, $2,000 on Business. Pay As You Go docs
- Usage-based billing (overage charged at the end of the cycle, or immediately once it exceeds 2× the monthly fee) is legacy: only Enterprise and legacy Creator, Pro, Scale and Business plans have it. Billing docs
- The Free plan has no commercial license. Anything you publish from it must credit ElevenLabs with "elevenlabs.io" or "11.ai" in the title (Eleven Music: credit "Eleven Music"). Can I use the ElevenLabs free plan commercially?
The Free plan has no commercial license. Anything you publish from it must credit ElevenLabs with "elevenlabs.io" or "11.ai" in the title (Eleven Music: credit "Eleven Music"). Content made outside a paid subscription, before or after, can't be used commercially.
What happens when I run out of ElevenLabs credits?
